Trader Joe’s Dog Treats:- Trader Joe’s isn’t just a good place to buy irresistible human snacks. It’s also a destination for uniquely-flavored dog treats inspired by dog owners’ meals. As the owner of a very picky standard poodle who will turn up his snout at nearly anything that isn’t human-grade (sprinkled cheese must accompany his kibble or he will give the stink-eye), we figured Trader Joe’s dog treats were worth a shot.

Trader Joe's Dog Treats

We picked five treats for under $5 each that had a human meal aspect to them — think leftovers, burgers, and surf n’ turf. We gave them to Moby the poodle in a taste test, curious to see if he could be fooled into eating dog treats inspired by his owner’s dinner. Here are the Trader Joe’s dog treats he loved — and the ones he didn’t.

The in-store prices sound great, but of course, not everywhere in the US has a store nearby. The company doesn’t sell things directly on their website, but some products are available through Amazon. Trader Joe’s doesn’t even have online descriptions and information for many of their products, unless they appear in the store flyer. I think that makes being an educated consumer difficult.

Surf’s Pup Dog Treats

Cue the “Wipe Out” drums and the “Walk Don’t Run” guitar lick… it’s time to paw-ty! Let all the dogs out, ‘cause it’s time to treat the TJ’s way, with Trader Joe’s Surf ’s Pup Dog Treats.

Of our many marvelous doggie-treat offerings, these just may be the most Trader Joe’s specific. The box with the surfing Pup contains a collection of treats that come in four distinct, surf-themed shapes: Ruff-riffic Hawaiian Shirt, Flippity Floppity (a flip-flop), Hibiscus Blossom, and TJ Shortboard. Beyond these surf-themed shapes that recall some aspect of your neighborhood store décor, the ingredients in these Treats are true to our TJ’s food-quality standards. The crunchy, whole wheat flour-based biscuits contain no animal by-products and are naturally colored by annatto extract.

Grain Free Dog Treats with Peanut Butter & Banana

We have a theory: if Elvis had only given that hound dog a Trader Joe’s Grain Free Dog Treat once in a while, that pup probably wouldn’t have been “cryin’ all the time.” After all, what dog wouldn’t perk up and wag his tail for a Dog Treat made with real Peanut Butter & Banana? Heck, even Elvis himself couldn’t say no to that nutty-sweet flavor combination—his favorite food was, famously, a fried Peanut Butter & Banana sandwich.

Made in the U.S.A. with additive-free peanut butter, dehydrated bananas, and other simple ingredients—like chickpeas, molasses, coconut flour, sunflower oil, etc.—Trader Joe’s Grain Free Dog Treats are as tasty as can be. In addition to being grain free, they’re also free from soy-based ingredients, so you really can feel great about letting your pup go Bananas for ’em. Plus, these 15-kcal, bone-shaped biscuits are easy to chew and a cinch to break into pieces, so they’re truly the Best In Show for hound dogs and Chihuahuas alike!

Chew-Cuterie Assorted Dog Treats

For the truly cultured canine we present Trader Joe’s Chew-Cuterie—a delicious assortment of charcuterie-inspired dog biscuits that will get tails wagging even amongst the biggest Fido foodies!

We think dogs of all sizes will be bow-wowed by Chew-cuterie biscuits which are shaped and flavored like some charcuterie meat and cheese favorites, including prosciutto, salami, Cheddar and provolone cheeses. They’re made in the U.S.A. and baked only with ingredients that are suitable for your furriest family member. And they provide your pup another way to participate in your holiday celebrations!

Freeze-Dried Beef Liver Begging Treats

As soon as we got Millie home, everyone we knew started telling us to find freeze-dried beef liver treats. Dogs go wild for them, we were told. We did get her some from our local pet store and the rumors proved to be true. I figured she’d like these, too, but I didn’t guess she’d choose them time and time again when presented with other options. The only ingredient is beef liver and the package says they’re to be used for training and treating. Honestly, they’re so high-value, I’m saving the rest for only training purposes.

Dog Treats at Trader Joe’s

The package says they are formulated for big or small dogs, and they come in 4 distinct colors so you can decide which ones your dog likes best. Although I’d be shocked if your pooch didn’t love them all equally since they are after all, treats! They come in yellow, orange, light brown and dark brown. They are color coded for the chicken, bacon cheddar, cheddar and peanut butter. If my dog could talk, I believe she would say, “I don’t care where you get my treats from, but Trader Joe’s Dog Treats work for me just fine. Just keep them coming!”. Take from that what you will. All I can say is I have looked at the ingredients of some national brand dog treats and they have way more odd and artificially flavored junk in them.
